A Legend in Sound, A Tradition of Progress
At the heart of every Klipsch product is over 60 years of audio expertise beating strong. Our commitment to no-compromise performance has made us the preferred choice of top cinema operators, a leader in stereo and home theater sound and now a premium name in headphones.

Great Comfort and Fit
Featuring a black soft-feel paint finish with copper accents on its earbuds, Custom 3 earphones utilize dark gray patent-pending Contour Ear Gels that are anatomically designed to accurately fit inside the human ear canal. These soft, oval silicon tips reduce ear fatigue as well as provide an amazing seal for excellent noise isolation and bass response.

Because ear canal measurements vary, Custom 3 headphones come with five different washable ear gel sizes: small, medium, and large single flange designs as well as small and large double flange designs.  Such variety allows these earphones to fit more of the population than the competition.

For perfect exterior comfort, flexible ear wires bend over and around the ears so they can be customized to each user. And not only do these adaptable wires provide optimal comfort, they also let users experience full or partial noise isolation—a great safety feature for on-the-go users. Just pull the ear gels out of the ear canals and adjust the wires to firmly position the earphone nozzles over the canals.

Great Sound
Inside Custom 3 earphones, you’ll find over 60 years of audio expertise ready to get the music inside your head. Exclusive KG723 tweeters, KG731 woofers, and patent-pending electro-acoustic crossover systems let you hear performances just as the artists intended—making Custom 3 an excellent choice for musicians and critical listeners.

Built to Last

Klipsch has gone to great lengths to ensure the long-lasting durability of Custom 3, up to and including its 50-inch-long cables. Put through extensive “real world” testing, these headphones feature appropriate strain relief at every cable connection point to help prevent wire damage. Plus, underneath the cable’s black cloth weaving, a special PVC Wireguard jacket prevents the wires from becoming exposed and frayed.

Added Frills
Great iPod headphones, Custom 3 is also compatible with the iPhone and virtually any device with a headphone jack. These headphones come with a high-quality carrying case that will also fit an 80G iPod, a ¼-inch adaptor, an airplane adaptor, five sets of different-sized ear gels, and an ear tip cleaning tool.

Custom FAQs

How do I get the flexible ear wires to mold precisely around my ears?
The flexible ear wires come pre-formed to fit most ears. However, to get a true custom feel, you will need to tweak the bend. Start by gently forming it to the back of your ear. You may need to adjust the angle of the earbud in your ear to help achieve a good seal or eliminate pressure points. Plan on spending up to five minutes checking the ear tip fit and wire adjustment. In many instances, you will need to bend the wire so that the nozzle is pointing forward and upward. Once you get it right, you'll find it was time well spent.

Why am I not getting enough bass response?
It’s probably because you don’t have the right ear seal. Be sure to try out the various ear tip sizes as you may find that you need the double flange design to achieve the best possible seal. You may also want to try pulling the ear tip back slightly as it may have collapsed.

How do I know if I have a good ear seal?
When no music is playing, your voice should sound louder and ambient noise should sound quieter, very similar to wearing a pair of ear plugs. Creating a tighter seal is simple. Insert the ear gel into the ear canal and then gently pull it back. This adjustment eliminates virtually all external noise so you can play your music at a lower volume, for a longer period of time, without experiencing ear fatigue.

Reviews

"The Klipsch Custom 3 in-ear headphones offer rich sound with dramatic bass, rugged construction, tangle-resistant cables, multiple ear tips, and effective noise isolation."
- Donald Bell, CNET.com [10/20/2008]

"... we were blown away with how well these earphones convey vocals. Truly, the warmth and clarity of the human voice through the Custom-3s is impressive, particularly the female voice. Fans of heavily vocal-driven singer/songwriter music stand a good chance of adoring these 'phones, not to mention connoisseurs of jazz."
- Nate Lanxon, CNET.co.uk [7/7/2008]

"The velvety smooth, warm sound quality is beautiful and enjoyable and particularly suited to acoustic, folk, vocal, jazz and soul genres."
- Nate Lanxon, CNET.co.uk [7/7/2008]

"But for purists, especially those who favor strict accuracy over slightly more forgiving tonal warmth, and who really want to push the high-resolution envelope, Klipsch's Custom-3s are just the ticket."
- Chris Martens, The Absolute Sound [7/1/2008]

"The Custom-3s give you full, deep and strong bass response, but not at the expense of high-end clarity."
- Riyad Emeran, TrustedReviews [6/24/2008]

"Once again the Custom-3s showed that they have a significant depth of talent, reproducing the powerful strings of the intro with crystal clear clarity. And even as the rest of the instruments and vocals arrive in the mix, those strings are never lost, always discernible just behind the vocals and strong beats."
- Riyad Emeran, TrustedReviews [6/24/2008]

" ... if you're looking for a rich, full and powerful sound, across a broad range of musical styles, the Klipsch Custom-3s will suit you down to the ground."
- Riyad Emeran, TrustedReviews [6/24/2008]

"The Custom-3s handled instrumentals ... beautifully. ... I could hear the pluck of the string and the beauty of each note being played. ... The bass was amazing."
- Gary Mazo, Gadgetnutz [3/19/2008]

"Vocals were just "pure." That's the best way to describe them -- vocals sound just like you would expect. You can also hear the artists' breath between the notes."
- Gary Mazo, Gadgetnutz [3/19/2008]

"I wore the Custom-3s for hours on end, day after day and experienced no fatigue whatsoever. ... The bottom line is that these are exceedingly comfortable earphones."
- Gary Mazo, Gadgetnutz [3/19/2008]
