Reference IV Surrounds

Klipsch Reinforces its Leading Category Position With Three New Reference Series Surround Speakers

INDIANAPOLIS (January 2, 2006) - To further strengthen its position in the specialty retail channel, Klipsch introduced three new WDST™ (Wide Dispersion Surround Technology) surround models in its award-winning Reference Series.

Replacing the entire existing lineup, except for the RS-10, the latest RS-62, RS-52 and RS-42 WDST surround speakers adopt a completely new cabinet and driver layout that is similar to the Klipsch THX® Ultra2 KS-525-THX surround speaker. This configuration establishes greater output, improved coverage and increased power handling to further extend Klipsch's best-in-class surround sound performance.

All of these new models come in a matte black vinyl finish and feature titanium tweeters coupled to new generation square Tractrix® Horns with improved throat geometry, Cerametallic™ aluminum woofers with inverted copper dust caps and powerful motor structures. Exclusive Klipsch Wide Dispersion Surround Technology creates enveloping surround sound fields and precise localization of individual effects. Side-firing ported enclosures, back-panel keyholes and ¼"-20 threaded inserts further simplify installation, while single-wire inputs and Klipsch custom internal wiring ensure high-quality connection.

While the RS-62 employs dual 6.5-inch woofers and dual 1-inch tweeters with nine-ounce ceramic motor structures, the RS-52 utilizes dual 5.25-inch woofers and dual 1-inch tweeters with neodymium magnet motor structures. The smaller RS-42 features the same tweeters and motor structures as the RS-52, but has dual 4-inch woofers.

"By featuring drivers that are set diagonally, the new Reference Series WDST speakers are able to minimize output interference and captivate audiences like never before," said Jim Garrett, Klipsch director of product marketing. "These advanced models smoothly cover a 180-degree horizontal arc so that the sound points at you no matter where you are seated."

These models will be packaged individually and sold at the following U.S. MSRP pricing: $998 for a pair of RS-62s, $698 for a pair of RS-52s and $448 for a pair of RS-42s.

Klipsch also introduced 17 other speakers in its Reference Series, including five floorstanding models, three bookshelf speakers, three center channel speakers and six powered subwoofers.
